Today, our beloved hamster Patches passed away. It was unexpected and we are all very sad. But I knew breaking the news to my daughter when she would come back from school, would be the most difficult part, because she is very sensitive and loves her pets dearly.
After Patches took her last breath, I cried and I asked my dad in spirit if he could make sure to take care of her. Then I added, can you please "send me a sign" that you have her.
Now as you may know, I am originally French and, in France, one of the ways to says "Grandpa" is "Papy".
Since my daughter was little, she has been calling her grandpa something else. Because when she was a toddler she could not say Papy, she came up with the name Kapy and has been calling her grandpa Kapy since then. No kid I know in France is calling their grandpa Kapy. It's just my daugther.
My dad passed away 2 years ago and I have received a few messages from him (one particular reported on this blog - with the title "In vino veritas")
He had a very strong bond with my daughter. These two were very close.
So this morning, again, I said, Dad please "send me a sign" for Gigi - my daughter - that you've got our hamster with you, that will make her feel better knowing she is safe.
Then I went on FB and browsed through my feed of the morning. I stopped in my tracks when I saw this (picture attached). For the last 22 years that I have lived in Orlando, I have NEVER EVER heard of this place, did not even know it existed. And it is a "Sign from Kap(p)y!" exactly what I asked for! The odds for this particular sign to pop up in my feed this morning, after me asking for one? Mathematicians, please calculate!
I know our little hamster Patches is well taken care of...Thanks to my dad's ingenious way for communicating!
